This month’s Arbitrary Game Jam had a stellar entry (and clear winner): The Last Polar Bear. Made in Unity, this endless runner has you play as a polar bear mother (with a cub on your back) running from iceberg to iceberg, trying to stay afloat as the ice keeps melting. As you make your way along each floating ice-piece, you run past facts and statistics about diminishing sea-ice and the importance of polar bear habitat. The music and sound effects do a good job of contributing to the sense of urgency that the theme and gameplay are trying to instill.
One of the better entries I’ve seen from TAG Jam and not only was it the best entry this month but also combines two of my favorite things in the world: video games and talking about the effects of climate change. WIN!
